Darkland is a Danish action film by Fenar Ahmad , which was released in selected Danish cinemas on January 1, 2017 and in German cinemas on October 12, 2017.

The successful surgeon Zaid lives a quiet life together with his pregnant wife in his luxurious apartment. When his brother is killed one day, Zaid decides on his own to start a hunt for the murderer in the underworld of Copenhagen. In doing so, however, he is not only putting himself in danger, but also his family.

Directed by Fenar Ahmad who also wrote the script for the film in collaboration with Adam August. The film was produced with the support of the Danish Film Institute .

Dar Salim played the lead role of Zaid in the film. Stine Fischer Christensen , Dulfi Al-Jabouri and Roland Møller can also be seen in other roles .

The locations in Copenhagen were in Islands Brygge , the Gemini Residence , which is used in the film as Zaid's apartment in Østerbro the Rigshospitalet and in the store Vesterport of Danske Bank .

Jens Ole Wowk McCoy , who is one half of the hip hop group Unknown Artist , produced the music for the film. Peter Albrechtsen was responsible for the sound design.

The film was released in selected Danish cinemas on January 1, 2017 and, after a previous screening at the Fantasy Filmfest 2017 , in German cinemas on October 12, 2017.
