Darrell Green (* around 1993 ) is an American jazz musician ( drums ) who u. a. builds on the Post Bop .

Green, whose father worked as a bassist, began playing drums as a child. At the age of seven he made his first appearances in his family's parish. During his school days in Oakland he played in various bands. He attended college at the California Institute of the Arts , where he studied jazz and African percussion. In the San Francisco Bay Area he then worked as a musician in various genres, preferably in jazz; In 2001 he started touring with Lavay Smith and her Red Hot Skillet Lickers and also formed a trio with guitarist Julian Lage and bassist David Ewell. Two years later, Green joined Dave Ellis's quintet and performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival ;

In 2005 Green was awarded a scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music and moved to New York, where he also worked with David Was , saxophonists JD Allen III and Sherman Irby, and the Myron Waldon & Daron Barrett quartet . He also toured with James Hurt , James Zollar , Jesse Davis , Stacy Dillard , Pharoah Sanders , Dr. Lonnie Smith , Sherman Irby, Steve Turre , Faye Carol and Jeremy Pelt . He also played with Red Holloway , Plas Johnson , Marlena Shaw , Stefon Harris , and Jay McShann ; he also works with his own formations, u. a. with Camille Thurman , with whom he is married. In the field of jazz he was involved in 17 recording sessions between 2000 and 2014. Currently (2019) he leads a quintet that includes Wallace Roney Jr. (trumpet), Jordan Young (alto saxophone), Elijah Easton (tenor saxophone) and Tom DiCarlo (bass).
