The House of the Bories (Original title: La maison des Bories ) is a French feature film from 1970 by Jacques Doniol-Valcroze . The screenplay is by Anne Tromelin and is based on the novel of the same name by Simone Ratel . Marie Dubois , Maurice Garrel and Mathieu Carrière can be seen in the leading roles . The film was first shown in theaters on August 28, 1970 in France. In Germany it had its premiere on March 22, 1975 on GDR television .

The natural scientist Julien Durras and his family reside in an old feudal country estate in the mountains near Grenoble . The landlord loves the patriarchal , the strict discipline. The family, especially the beautiful, much younger woman Isabelle, is subject to him. The young geology student Carl-Stephan Kursdedt penetrates this idyll and is supposed to translate the latest scientific work of the head of the family into German. Although the guest is a bit stiff at first, the atmosphere in the house soon loosens up and becomes the friend of the two children Laurent and Lise - but also follows the young mistress of the house with great tenderness. She feels drawn to the sympathetic boyish friend of the family, but ultimately she decides to be loyal to her husband. The stranger must go again; the family remains intact.

criticism

The Evangelische Film-Beobachter sums up his criticism as follows: “A literary and richly emotional story without reference to reality, but stylistically from a single cast.” The film service sums up that the work is a “psychologically differentiated triangular story ” that “outstanding staged ".
