The Liebesbarometer is a medium-length German silent film fun play from 1914 by Franz Hofer with Dorrit Weixler and Franz Schwaiger in the leading roles.

action

Young Lo is a real tomboy with plenty of nonsense in her head and, according to her father's will, is supposed to marry a handsome man. But the little one can hardly be tamed and steadfastly refuses to accept any admirers. One day a smart, young lieutenant comes along and takes the youngest daughter, the father's problem child, by storm. Soon the love barometer shows a constant high. The stubborn, defiant head finally becomes a magical young lady who ultimately sinks down quite voluntarily into the arms of her “conqueror” and likes to be led to the altar after all sorts of errors and confusions.

Production notes

The love barometer was created at the beginning of 1914 in the Luna Film Atelier in Berlin's Friedrichstrasse 224. The three-act film was censored on March 13, 1914 and was 1,082 meters long at that time. The world premiere took place on April 17, 1914. When it was re-censored on September 6, 1921, the now four-act comedy was downgraded to 845. A youth ban was issued.

The buildings are by Fritz Kraencke, the film was viraged .

As with numerous other productions by Franz Hofer in 1913/14, including Das rosa Slipper , Fräulein Piccolo and Deutsche Helden , the man from Saarbrücken brought Weixler and Schwaiger together as a romantic film couple.

criticism

“Dorrit Weixler still lives in everyone's memory, her pictures still dominate the programs of the present: Dorrit Weixler is not dead. How it bubbles and romps with arrogance, how she lets herself be tamed in her“ stubbornness ”, only to then enter the with bewitching grace To sink the arms of her tamer, these are all personal characteristics of the artist, who was unsurpassable in her way. Especially under the direction of Franz Hofer, she always gave her best, so this film can certainly be called a win. "
