Always Trouble with Dave was an American sitcom that aired on CBS between 1993 and 1997 . It was loosely based on the life of Pulitzer Prize winner Dave Barry , played by Harry Anderson .

The series is about the life of columnist Dave Barry on the fictional daily Miami Record-Dispatch in Miami . He is married and lives in suburban Miami with his wife and two sons, where he writes his columns. His best friends are his editor, Kenny Beckett, and his neighbor, the newly divorced cosmetic surgeon Dr. Sheldon Baylor. His assistant Mia lives next door with her future husband Eric.

The series is based on the books Dave Barry's Greatest Hits and Dave Barry Turns 40 . Guest stars included John Ritter , Beatrice Arthur , Ed Begley junior , George Hamilton and Pat Boone . The first two seasons were released on DVD in the USA.
