Dave Hole
Dave Hole (born March 30, 1948 in Heswall , Merseyside ; actually David Robert Hole ) is an Australian slide guitarist .
Life
Hole moved to Perth with his family at the age of four . He started playing guitar at the age of twelve , and as an autodidact he played on albums by Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix, among others . The left-hander broke his finger in a soccer game , which resulted in an unusual style of guitar playing. He switched to right-handed playing and since then has not reached the fingerboard from below, as usual, but from above . He toured Australia from 1974 until 1990 when an editor of Guitar Player magazine noticed him. The coverage led to a US record deal with Alligator Records. This was followed by tours through the USA and Europe . In 1999 Under the Spell received an ARIA Music Award for best blues album.
