David Thomas Trottier (born June 25, 1906 in Pembroke , Ontario , † November 13, 1956 in Halifax , Nova Scotia ) was a Canadian ice hockey player who worked for the Montreal Maroons and Detroit Red Wings in his active time from 1923 to 1939, among others played the National Hockey League . At the Olympic Winter Games in 1928 , he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.
Career
Dave Trottier began his career as a hockey player with the St. Michael's Majors, for which he was active from 1923 to 1925 in the junior league of the Ontario Hockey Association . The winger then played for three years for the Toronto Varsity Grads, with whom he won the Allan Cup , the Canadian amateur championship, in 1927 . On April 8, 1928 he signed a contract as a free agent with the Montreal Maroons , for which he played for a total of ten years in the National Hockey League . In the 1934/35 season he won the prestigious Stanley Cup with the Maroons . In 1937 he also took part in the Howie Morenz Memorial Game . For the 1938/39 season , the Canadian was sold to the Detroit Red Wings within the NHL , for which he only played eleven games, spending the remainder of the season with the Pittsburgh Hornets in the International-American Hockey League . He then ended his career as a professional ice hockey player and worked for an oil company. He died in November 1956 at the age of only 50.

Trottier took part for Canada in the 1928 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz , where he and his team won the gold medal.
