On May 24, 2012, a symposium on the state of Jewish-Christian relations took place at the Jerusalem Institute for Israel Studies. Cardinal Kurt Koch and David Bollag presented the Catholic and Jewish positions respectively.

Rabbi in Efrat

David Bollag worked as a community rabbi in Zurich (1987 to 1990) and Cologne (1994 to 1999).

David Bollag has lived with his family in Efrat , a nationally religious West Bank settlement in the greater Jerusalem area ( Gush Etzion ), since 2005 . Since 2008 he has been the rabbi of the newly founded Zemer haZayit community in Efrat. He shares the leadership of the community with his wife, the psychologist Caroline Peyser-Bollag. The reason for the foundation was the desire of some women to say a Dvar Torah (sermon), which the existing synagogue community refused to do.

Zemer haZayit sees himself as “modern orthodox”: In coordination with Chief Rabbi Shlomo Riskin , David Bollag and his congregation develop egalitarian forms of worship that are in harmony with the Halacha . The separation of men's and women's areas ( mechiza ), which is characteristic of Orthodox communities, was implemented in such a way that women and men have equal access to the Torah shrine .
