David Fleischmann (* 1546 in Plauen (Dresden) ; † August 17, 1606 in Reichenau , humanist name Karkander ) was a German Lutheran pastor in Saxony .

David Fleischmann was born in Plauen near Dresden in 1546 as the son of pastor Nicolaus Fleischmann. After his secondary school education in Meissen, he studied in Leipzig and was Famulus of Caspar Peucer . In 1570 he succeeded his father. Although he signed the Torgau Articles in 1574 , he was dismissed as a cryptocalvinist in the wake of the Calvinist disputes . In 1577 (or 1576?) He became pastor in Herwigsdorf near Zittau . In 1591 he was called to Reichenau , where he gave his inaugural sermon on May 6th. His local historical remarks form an appendix to the local church book.

He left a complete Greek Bible manuscript from the 15th century (" Zittau Bible "), which his son Johann Fleischmann donated to the Zittau Council Library in 1620 .
