David Fromkin

David Fromkin (born August 27, 1932 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin , † June 11, 2017 in New York City , New York ) was an American lawyer , historian and author .

Life

Fromkin earned his degree at the University of Chicago belonging to University of Chicago Law School and worked as a lawyer . During the Democratic Party's primary elections in the 1972 presidential election, he was the foreign policy advisor to candidate Hubert H. Humphrey . As an attorney, he served as both an advisor on the prosecution and a defense counsel to the US Supreme Military Tribunal. He was a partner in the Simpson Thacher & Bartlett law firm .

Fromkin was Professor of History, International Relations and Law at Boston University and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations .
