David G. Perkins (2015)

David Gerard Perkins (born November 12, 1957 in New Hampshire ) is a general in the United States Army and the acting commander of the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command in Virginia .

Perkins completed his training at the West Point Military Academy in 1980 and was platoon commander and company commander of units in the USA, Europe and the Middle East, as well as serving as deputy chief of staff of the US Army Europe and as assistant to the speaker of the House of Representatives . During the Iraq mission he was the commander of the 2nd Brigade as part of the 3rd Infantry Division , which took Baghdad , among other things , as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom , where he earned the Silver Star , the third highest honor for bravery.

From November 2011 to February 2014, Perkins was commander of the United States Army Combined Arms Center in Kansas , and on March 14, 2014 he took over his current command at TRADOC .
