David James Elliott
David James Elliott (born September 21, 1960 in Milton , Ontario ; actually David William Smith ) is a Canadian actor .
Life and accomplishments
Elliott was born as David William Smith, the second of three sons to Arnold and Patricia Smith. He grew up in his native Milton, but spent a lot of time in the Bahamas with relatives of his father, who had relocated to Canada from there .
As a teenager, David James Elliott was enthusiastic about rock music. He fronted a band and left high school in his senior year to pursue his dream of a music career. Failing to achieve the success he had hoped for, Elliott returned to high school at the age of 19 and graduated. There he was informed of his acting talent by a teacher.
He then attended Ryerson University in Toronto. After auditioning for the Stratford Shakespearean Festival in Stratford, Ontario , he became a member of its Young Company , where he worked for the next two years. Elliott's first major role was in the Street Legal series .
In 1990 Elliott moved to Los Angeles , where he took the stage name David James Elliott, as at that time a David Smith was already registered in the actors' union.
Elliott is best known to German audiences for his role as Harmon 'Harm' Rabb Jr. in the TV series JAG - On behalf of the honor . After the end of JAG (2005 after 10 seasons), Elliott played the role of District Attorney DA James Conlon on the CBS series Close to Home . In 2015 he played John Wayne in Trumbo .
David James Elliott has been married to actress Nanci Chambers since 1992 . The two have two children.
