career

society

David Owino grew up in Nakuru on the Flamingo Estate and played in his youth at Olympic Youth and from 2004 at St. Josephs Academy . He was accepted into the AC Nakuru combat team and played there until 2008.

Owino then moved to Karuturi Sports in Naivasha . After the 2011 season he was signed by Gor Mahia to replace Eric Masika , who moved to AFC Leopards . With the championship victory in the KPL, he won his first title in 2013.

National team

David Owino made his debut in the Kenyan national team on January 15, 2012 with a 0-1 defeat in a friendly against Senegal. National coach Adel Amrouche called him into the national team, although he was not a regular at Gor Mahia at the time. In the same year he reached the final of the CECAFA Cup 2012 , but was replaced in the first half due to a muscle strain. Kenya lost the game against Uganda 1: 2.

In the match against Nigeria on March 23, 2013 in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup, he neutralized winger Victor Moses so well that he was nicknamed Calabar - the name of the venue - in Kenya .

He scored his first goal for the national team on September 8, also during World Cup qualification. He scored the 1-0 winning goal against Namibia in the fifth minute, making Kenya the only victory in this competition.

In 2013 he was again in the squad for the CECAFA Cup in his own country and was able to win the title with Kenya after eleven years.
