David Donaldson Robertson (born March 21, 1869 in Shawlands , today: part of Glasgow , † September 13, 1937 in Ashbury , Berkshire , England ) was a Scottish golf and rugby player .

Life

David Robertson was born in Shawland, now a part of Glasgow, to the wine merchant William Aleander Robertson . He first attended the Haileybury and Imperial Service College in Hertfordshire and later the Glasgow Academy . He studied at the University of Glasgow before moving to Christ's College Cambridge in 1889 . In 1893 he completed his bachelor's degree and joined in 1895 as a barrister at Lincoln's Inn .

With the outbreak of World War I , Robertson joined the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve .

Sports career

At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1900 Robertson won the individual silver medal.

rugby

Robertson first appeared as a rugby player for the University of Cambridge in the varsity match in 1892 . In 1893 he was nominated for an international match for the Scottish national team against Wales . The Welsh won 9-0, after which some players, including Robertson, were eliminated. He never represented Scotland in rugby again.
