David Schofield (* 1951 in Manchester , Great Britain ) is a British actor .

life and career

Schofield grew up as one of ten children in a working-class family. At the age of twelve he was already on local theater stages and took part in plays. At 19, he enrolled at the London- based Academy of Music and Dramatic Art , but dropped out of training to pursue an acting career.

Initially in smaller roles, his parts in British television and film productions continued to grow. With a supporting role in The Last of the Mohicans , he finally made his breakthrough and made the leap to America. His best-known roles so far have been Senator Falco in Gladiator , Rochefort in The Musketeer, and henchman Mister Mercer in two parts of Pirates of the Caribbean .
