David W. Ball

David Wadsworth Ball (born September 12, 1949 in Denver , Colorado ), or David Ball , is an American writer . He is best known for historical novels .

Life

David Ball was born on September 12, 1949 in Denver to Jack and Carol Ball. His parents ran their own florist in Denver. He grew up in the Park Hill neighborhood, which served as the template for a neighborhood in his second book. In 1972 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the Metropolitan State College of Denver . After graduating from Columbia University with an MSc in Journalism in 1973 , he set out to explore the world.

Ball has already had an eventful life and is a real globetrotter . According to his own statements, he traveled to over 50 countries on all continents. The former pilot's activities included coffin maker, businessman, taxi driver in New York City, and road builder in West Africa . He also built telephone poles in Cameroon and drove through the Andes in a VW van , renovated Victorian houses in Denver and sold gasoline in Grand Tetons .

He has traveled extensively to the countries in which his novels are set, such as China , Malta , Algeria and the city of Istanbul , and in his spare time, in addition to researching his novels, enjoys skiing, fishing, running, baseball and visiting the opera .

David Ball lives with his wife Melinda Ball and their two children, Ben and Elizabeth, in a self-built house in the Rocky Mountains and is currently writing another historical novel . This novel is supposed to deal with the city of London and the Mediterranean area in the 17th century .
