DeMarcus Lawrence (* 28. April 1992 in Aiken , South Carolina ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the defensive ends . He played college football for Boise State University and currently plays for the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League .

college

Lawrence first attended Butler Community College , but after two years he moved to Boise State University and successfully played college football for their team, the Broncos, in 2012 and 2013 , and for his good performance he was repeatedly appointed to various selection teams. He achieved a total of 120 tackles and 20.0 sacks .

NFL

In the 2014 NFL Draft , he was selected in the second round as 34th overall by the Dallas Cowboys . After the Cowboys sacked DeMarcus Ware due to salary cap problems , they urgently needed to strengthen their defensive line . They swapped their second and third round picks for the Washington Redskins ' second round pick so they could move forward and pick Lawrence. However, he broke his leg in preparation and was only able to play in seven regular season games in his rookie season . He caused a stir in the wild card game against the Detroit Lions . Just over two minutes from the end of the game, the Cowboys were narrowly ahead when Lawrence captured a fumble from Matthew Stafford . Instead of just securing it, he wanted to gain space himself and lost the ball, which meant that the right of attack went back to the Lions. In the following drive he managed a sack against Stafford and he was able to secure the resulting new fumble and thus ensure the victory of the cowboys. In 2015 he was used in all games, 13 times as a starter . After he had to undergo back surgery in the summer and was banned from the first four games for failing a drug test, the 2016 season was rather disappointing for him. In nine games, he only managed eleven tackles and a single sack. In 2017, however, it was completely different. He became one of the best pass rushers in the league and achieved 14.5 sacks. For his consistently good performance, he was appointed to the Pro Bowl for the first time . After negotiations on a multi-year contract could not be reached, the Cowboys occupied Lawrence with a franchise day in early March , so he played another year for the team and received 17.4 million US dollars . In the 2018 season he scored 10.5 sacks and was nominated again for the Pro Bowl.

In April 2019, Lawrence signed a five-year contract with the Cowboys for $ 105 million, making him the highest-paid NFL player not playing as a quarterback .
