Debbie Bont (born December 9, 1990 in Volendam ) is a Dutch handball player .

Career

Debbie Bont played in the Netherlands for HC Volendam and later for VOC Amsterdam. With Amsterdam she won the championship in 2008, 2009 and 2010, the cup in 2009 and 2010 and the Dutch Supercup in 2008 and 2010 . From January 2012, the 1.74-meter-tall right winger played for the Danish club FC Midtjylland Håndbold , from where she moved to the German handball Bundesliga for HC Leipzig in the 2012/13 season. She won the DHB Cup with Leipzig in 2014 . In the 2014/15 season she ran for the Dutch first division club SV Dalfsen . Since July 2015 she has been under contract with the Danish first division club København Håndbold . With København Håndbold she won the Danish championship in 2018. For the 2020/21 season she will move to the French first division team Metz Handball .

Debbie Bont has played 158 international appearances for the Dutch national team , scoring 316 goals. She participated in the 2010 European Championships and the 2011 and 2013 World Championships . Bont won the silver medal at the 2016 European Championship as well as the bronze medal at the 2017 World Championship and the 2018 European Championship . At the 2019 World Cup , she won the World Cup title in the final against the Spanish selection.
