Deidesheim Latvians

Letten is the name of a vineyard located northeast of the municipality of Forst on the Weinstrasse ( Rhineland-Palatinate ) and belongs to the neighboring small town of Deidesheim . Their vineyards cover 124.3 hectares .

Location, climate, soils

The Letten belongs to the Palatinate cultivation area and here again to the Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstrasse area. It is a single site that is part of the Schnepfenflug large site on the Wine Route . The Letten lies at an altitude of about 115  m above sea level. NHN and is 100% flat. The Haardt mountain range protects the Latvians from precipitation in its lee .

The soils of the lettuce consist of clay , loamy sand and loess .

Surname

The name was first mentioned in 1855 ("At the Lettengrube"). The name refers to the Latvian soil type .
