Deidesheimer Kieselberg

Kieselberg is the name of a vineyard located west of the small Palatinate town of Deidesheim ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). Their vineyards cover 15.7 hectares .

Location, climate, soils

The Kieselberg belongs to the Palatinate cultivation area and here again to the Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstrasse area. It is a single site that is part of the Forster Mariengarten large site . The Kieselberg lies at an altitude of about 150 to 160  m above sea level. NHN and is 100% flat.

The soils of the Kieselberg consist of loam , loamy sand, in places interspersed with boulders, sandy clays , there are occasional weathered sandstone; the nature of the soil often changes between these types. The lee of the Haardt mountain range protects the Kieselberg from precipitation.

The name was first mentioned in 1234 ("Cuselberch")
