history

In 1954, the Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund (MGB) founded the “Migros Lagerhaus Genossenschaft” (MLG) on the site of the disused Basel-Sternenfeld airfield in Birsfelden. The MLG warehouse complex comprised cold rooms , dry storage, a coffee roastery and various packaging lines. In 1964 the company "Migros Zentralpackerei AG" (MZP) was founded. She took over the coffee roasting plant and the packaging lines from MLG. In addition, MZP manufactured all of the paper packaging for the Migros cooperatives. In 1987 MLG and MZP merged to form “Migros Betriebe Birsfelden AG” (MBB). It harmonized the activities of the two companies and continued to act as a processing plant for coffee and colonial goods. As a trading company , it also offered logistics services (handling, storage, customs clearance) for third parties.

At the beginning of 2000, MBB began developing an independent coffee capsule system . MBB introduced this in 2004 under the Delizio brand at the Swiss retailer Migros. From January 1, 2007, MBB traded as "Delica AG". The packaging production area was sold. With this step, the company advanced to a pure food industry. In 2009 the company started exporting . It launches its own capsule system under the Cremesso brand in Austria. In 2012 Delica AG introduced an exclusive premium brand with Café Royal. The launch product was the Nespresso- compatible coffee capsule. In 2014 Delica implemented two new important systems in the colonial area. A new ZIP system for resealable bags and a cup system for hermetically sealable cups. This can be used to pack colonial products ready for consumption.
