The Dell Streak is a smartphone from Dell from 2010. With a display diagonal of 5 inches , it was one of the largest smartphones at the time and was one of the first smartlets . This aspect - too big for the shirt pocket and too small for the suitcase - was also viewed critically.

history

The Dell Streak was presented at Computex in Taipei in May 2010 . It was launched in the UK in early June 2010. The device has been available in Germany and the USA since the beginning of August 2010. As of August 2011, the Streak 5 is no longer sold in the USA.

Dell Streak 7

The Streak 7 was shown at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in early 2011 and has also been on sale in Germany since April 2011. This device has a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 800 × 480 pixels. It has the System on a Chip Tegra 2 from Nvidia and runs on the Android 2.2 operating system . delivered. The Dell Streak has a 1 GHz - Snapdragon - processor . Android 1.6 was initially offered as the operating system; Android 2.2 has been used since December 2010 . The unexpected update to Android 2.3 has been available since December 22, 2011, but so far this has only been possible in America and Korea. The Streak has a 5-inch LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 800 × 480 pixels , which, however, only offers DualTouch instead of a full multi-touch implementation . A 5 megapixel camera is integrated on the back of the device and a VGA camera on the front. The device has a 512 MB ROM and 512 MB SDRAM memory as well as a permanently integrated 2 GB microSD card for system and application data that is not accessible to the user . The memory can be expanded via a user-accessible microSD card slot (16 GB installed ex works). The tablet communicates wirelessly via WLAN 802.11 b / g, Bluetooth 2.0, UMTS , HSDPA / HSUPA , GPRS and EDGE .

The dimensions of the streak are 152.9 mm × 79.1 mm × 9.98 mm and it weighs 220 g. The device also has an ambient light, distance and accelerometer as well as an electronic compass, GPS receiver and capacity sensor buttons. The device is also designed as a navigation system.

Alternatively, a headset is included for making calls, but according to a report by Spiegel , the quality of the headset is not the best . In the same test, the battery life in standby mode was around two days. The Chromoid website came up with an operating time of 7 hours and 35 minutes in a comparison test.
