Demon's Eye is a Deep Purple - tribute band from Germany , which now also writes and publishes its own songs. The five-piece formation is named after the song "Demon's Eye" from the 1971 Deep Purple album Fireball .

In February 2007, Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice sat on the drums of Demon's Eye for a total of four concerts in the Netherlands , Germany and Austria .

In March 2007 Demon's Eye completed a five-concert tour of Ireland.

Since 2008, Doogie White , the former vocalist of Ritchie Blackmore's former band Rainbow , has been taking over the vocal microphone for Demon's Eye on a regular basis. White has also sung the Demon's Eye albums The Stranger Within (2011) and Under The Neon (2015), which contain exclusively original compositions.

Demon's Eye appeared at one concert each in May 2009 as opening act for the Canadian band SAGA and in June 2009 for the British-American band Foreigner .

In 2009 and 2010 the late Deep Purple organist Jon Lord performed his Concerto for Group And Orchestra, written in 1969, as well as some of his solo works and Deep Purple songs together with Demon's Eye and orchestra in Siegen, Potsdam and Munich.

Demon's Eye doesn't limit themselves to copying the works of Deep Purple. Like the original, they improvise during their concerts, which is especially true for the guitar and organ solo parts.

history

Demon's Eye was founded in February 1998 in Siegen, North Rhine-Westphalia. The group gave the first concert on July 18, 1998 in Bad Schmiedeberg ( Saxony-Anhalt ). In December 2000 there was the first line-up change, bassist Markus Schneider was replaced by Maik Keller. In April 2002 the keyboardist / organist Michael Böcher was replaced by Florian Pritsch.

Demon's Eye's first live CD, entitled Made on Stage , was released in late 2002. Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover contributed to the cover artwork by creating the band and album title lettering. At the beginning of October 2005 Demon's Eye release their second album with ALIVE .

From July 2005 to July 2007 Robert Thomas Walsh sang for Demon's Eye. He succeeded Jens Kreikebaum, who was again at the microphone for the band from August 2007 to October 2008. In October 2007, Mark Zyk succeeded Steve Curly as guitarist. The long-time keyboardist / organist Florian Pritsch left the band in December 2008, but returned in May 2010 and replaced the keyboardist Andreas König who had joined the band in the meantime. In June 2015, however, Florian Pritsch and Demon's Eye finally parted ways by mutual agreement. Gert-Jan Naus has been touching the keys since July 2015. From mid-October 2008 to December 2009 Bernd Martin was the singer of Demon's Eye. Subsequently, the band worked alternately with a total of three singers until December 2016, namely with Doogie White , the Pink Cream 69 singer David Readman and with Dario Velasco. Since January 2017 Demon's Eye have a permanent singer again with Daniele Gelsomino. The drummer Andree Schneider is the last remaining founding member of the band.

On July 18, 2008 Demon's Eye played at the Burg-Herzberg-Festival for the first time since its foundation in 1998, in addition to several Deep Purple songs, as well as several original compositions. Encouraged by the positive reactions, the band recorded an album with their own songs for the first time in August 2010. The Stranger Within was released on March 18, 2011. On September 18, 2015, Under the Neon followed another studio album with original compositions.

In 2018 Demon's Eye celebrated their 20th anniversary. Since their role models Deep Purple could even look back on 50 years in 2018, the title of the Demon's Eye tour was Anniversary in Purple . Doogie White acted as a special guest at 8 concerts on this tour. On February 16 and 17, 2018, the founding members Jens Kreikebaum, Michael Böcher and Markus Schneider performed three more songs with Demon's Eye in Siegen .

On December 31, 2019, bassist Maik Keller left the band after 19 years. His successor is Jan Dickmann.
