Emergence

After Kevin Hamann had released the album Kraft and the EP weapon together with Der Tante Renate as Bratze in 2007, he returned to his solo project ClickClickDecker in the course of 2008.

Like the two predecessors, Hamann recorded the circumstances in his apartment. However, since he was not satisfied with the result, he recorded the album again in summer 2008 in the 17 studios together with Tobias Bade (The Sea) and Oliver Stangl, who also plays in his live band . Thus, according to the circumstances, it is the first ClickClickDecker album, in which other musicians were involved in addition to Hamann.

In an interview, Hamann said afterwards that Bade and Stangl had brought a “new wind” to his music. With the arrangements, however, he mainly implemented his own ideas. Overall, he had to get used to the fact that the work was tedious and not so spontaneous. Nevertheless, in retrospect, he is very satisfied with both the work process and the result. However, Hamann left it open whether he would continue to record with a band in the future.

The mastering was done by Michael Schwabe, on November 10th, 2008 Hamann submitted according to the circumstances to his label Audiolith. The production of the album was financially supported by the Initiative Musik .

In order to promote this, Hamann posted a video on YouTube at the beginning of November in which singer and guitarist Sascha Blohm presented the song. Hamann became aware of the young musician because he posted cover versions of his songs on the Internet.

Also before the publication was the circumstances According to be heard on the official website of ClickClickDecker. To do this, however, a memory game had to be solved first, as Hamann said he found this more interesting than making the songs available on MySpace, for example. On January 30, 2009 the album was finally released by Audiolith. The cover of the situation accordingly shows stacked cubes that are printed with images of native animal species.

In March, the second single, “Handshake at the turning point”, was released as a download. The B-side included the title “Nobody here” and an acoustic version of “To City of”. A music video was shot for this single , in which Hamann and his musicians can be seen.

Before the release of the third single "Dialog mit dem Tölpel", Hamann made the soundtracks available on the Internet and asked his fans to send in remixes . Nine of them, including one of the band Frittenbude , were released on June 7, 2009 with the single, which was the only one to be released on CD .

reception

The Hamburger Abendblatt found that Hamann's texts were “as usual poetic and strong associations”, but sometimes difficult to decipher. Musically, worn guitar melodies dominated, combined with "electronic sprinkles" that supported the vocals well. The passages in which only the guitar and the vocals are in the foreground are outstanding.

For the music magazine Intro , Linus Volkmann wrote that Hamann is returning to the "classic guitar pain" with the circumstances . Nevertheless, the album is not just a copy of the previous releases, but is "musically inspired".
