The Deneck is a 2433 m above sea level. A. high mountain of the Schladminger Tauern in Upper Styria . It is located northwest on the Sölkpass .
Location and landscape
The Deneck is located in the main Alpine ridge of the Niedere Tauern , between Katschtal near Schöder in the south, and Großsölktal with Sankt Nikolai im Sölktal in the north. The Katschbach goes south to the Mur . To the north, Bräualmbach, west and Großsölkbach from the Sölkpass, flow together to the east in Sankt Nikolai, they go to the Enns .
In the main ridge to the east (here: southeast) lies the Nagleck ( 215 m ) as a foothill on the Sölkpass ( 1788 m ) . The Kaltenbach lakes are located here in the Sölktal . To the west (here: southwest), after the saddle of the Gschrött, follows the Breitmodl ( 2380 m ), and behind it the Sauofen ( 2415 m ). The ridge from the Aarfeldspitz ( 2248 m above sea level ) over the Sölkpass to the Sauofen, and on to the Schöderkogel ( 2500 m ), encompasses the upper Katschgraben arched. The short Deneck ridge runs northwards over the Mittereck ( 2284 m ) to Sankt Nikolai.
