Denk (own spelling DENK ) is a rock band from the greater Vienna area . She plays rock and pop sung in the Viennese dialect . Front woman Birgit Denk , who has been known by Kurt Ostbahn's side for a long time , first founded the metal group Hertz with musician friends and later the band DENK in 2000.

history

Birgit Denk (Vienna 2008)

Their first maxi CD had the same name as the band and included five songs. They played in locations like the Wiener Reigen or the Chelsea . Her first major success followed with their first album Ausgsteckt , a live CD of unplugged - concert . From then on, their regular audience increased .

In 2004 she released her second album Hoits eich an! . This was a studio version, but this time the electric version with electric guitars (they call it “wild & dangerous”). Among them are two cover versions that Birgit Denk had translated into Viennese.

Concerts followed with more and more spectators, including highlights such as B. a joint appearance with the band STS or in 2005 the appearance on the main stage at the Donauinselfest . In 2006, DENK was nominated for two Amadeus Austrian Music Awards .

In 2006 the album Laut was presented, a tour in Germany and Austria and two concerts recorded in Rappoltenkirchen in autumn .

On March 9, 2007, the album Ausgsteckt was released in Rappoltenkirchen (Ausgsteckt means something like unplugged) and the band's first DVD of the same name, which contains recordings from the two concert days in November 2006 in the Pezihaus Rappoltenkirchen .

In 2008 the band went on tour again - it's good . The special thing about it was that the music style was based on the concert location: with e-guitar rock or unplugged or mixed.

In 2010, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the band, the studio album Tua Weida was released with twelve new songs that still serve the Viennese dialect and are musically diverse.

In 2012, the CD I wish myself a front tooth with cabaret songs from the 1950s was published under the name Birgit Denk & Die Novaks . The CD was created after a successful series of concerts.

In 2013, DENK began to play in small locations as a "DENK" trio.

Since November 2014 Birgit Denk and her band can be seen on the ORF program Denk mit Kultur .

In 2015 the band celebrated their 15th anniversary with a CD and an extensive series of concerts.

music

Their style ranges from calm rock ballads to hard guitar sounds ( rock , pop ). In Birgit Denk, the band has a front woman who can not only sing in several genres, but also leads through the concerts with wit. The programs are also continuously presented in so-called "unplugged" formats. The current titles are musically edited and presented according to the concert framework. DENK has expanded its musical range since 2012. Birgit Denk is now with her band, expanded by violin and viola, as Die Novaks and reinterprets cabaret songs from the 1950s.
