Denni Robin Avdić (born September 5, 1988 in Huskvarna ) is a Swedish football player . The offensive player, who is under contract with AIK Solna , played in all of the Swedish youth national teams from the U-16 selection and made his debut in the Swedish national team in 2009 .

Career

Avdić started playing football at Husqvarna FF . As a youth player at the club, he was first appointed to a Swedish youth team in 2003. In 2005 the offensive player moved to Denmark in the youth department of Brøndby IF , but returned to Sweden after a year and joined the youth department of IF Elfsborg. During the 2006 season he moved up to the professional squad, but could not contribute a minute to the club's fifth championship title.

His debut in the Allsvenskan was Avdić in the following season on April 7, 2007, in the game against Malmö FF , when he came on in the 68th minute for Mathias Svensson . This season he was mainly used as a substitute, after which he made his debut on August 21, 2007 in the Swedish U21 selection , when they lost in a competitive game of the Welsh U21 selection with a 3-4 defeat. After he was able to establish himself in the Swedish junior national team, he did the same at his club. In November 2008 he extended his contract with IF Elfsborg for five years until the end of the 2013 season.

On January 3, 2011 Avdić moved to the Bundesliga at Werder Bremen , where he signed a contract until June 2014. On January 15, he made his competitive debut for Werder Bremen when he came on for Aaron Hunt in the game against 1899 Hoffenheim . He wears the shirt number 9 at Werder Bremen.

After he couldn't prevail at Werder Bremen, he was loaned to the Dutch first division club PEC Zwolle at the end of August 2012 for the 2012/13 season in order to be able to gain more match practice.

On September 1, 2012 Avdić was substituted on for the first time in the league game against NEC Nijmegen in the 45th minute. He's number 44 for Zwolle. On November 11, 2012, he scored his first goal for Zwolle in the 2-4 defeat by Ajax Amsterdam .

On August 2, 2013 Avdic signed a contract with AZ Alkmaar and moved to the Dutch Eredivisie. The fee was around 250,000 euros.

National team

In January 2009 national coach Lars Lagerbäck appointed Avdić to the national team on the occasion of a North American tour of the senior national team. In the 1-0 win over the Mexican national team with a goal from Alexander Farnerud , he came on as a substitute for Daniel Nannskog from the 66th minute on his first international appearance. After he played in all twelve league games in the following season until the summer break, the junior selection supervisors Tommy Söderberg and Jörgen Lennartsson appointed him to the side of his club colleague Emir Bajrami for the U-21 European Championship finals in his own country in the end of May . In the course of the tournament, in which the national selection reached the semi-finals, he was not used.

He also stayed in the squad of the U-21 national team and played in qualifying for the 2011 U-21 European Championship tournament .
