The department of Collón Curá is located in the southeast of the Neuquén province in southern Argentina and is one of 16 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the departments of Catán Lil and Picún Leufú , to the east by the province of Río Negro , to the south-west by the department of Lácar , to the west by the department of Huiliches and to the north-west by the department of Zapala .

The capital of the Collón Curá department is Piedra del Águila .
