The Los Lagos department is located in the south of the Neuquén province in southern Argentina and is one of 16 administrative units in the province.

It borders on the Lácar Department to the north, the Río Negro Province to the east and south, and Chile to the west .

The capital of the Los Lagos department is Villa La Angostura .

In the north of the department lies the southern part of the Nahuel Huapi National Park and the Los Arrayanes National Park .
