The Catán Lil Department is located in the center of the Neuquén Province in southern Argentina and is one of 16 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the departments of Picunches and Zapala , to the east by the department of Picún Leufú , to the south by the department of Collón Curá and to the west by the departments of Huiliches and Aluminé .

The capital of the Catán Lil department is Las Coloradas .
