The Picún Leufú department is located in the east of the Neuquén province in southern Argentina and is one of 16 administrative units in the province.
It is bordered to the northeast by the Department of Confluencia , to the east by the Province of Río Negro , to the southwest by the Department of Collón Curá , to the west by the Department of Catán Lil and to the northwest by the Department of Zapala .
The capital of the department Picún Leufú is the same Picún Leufú .
