The Lácar department is located in the south of the Neuquén province in southern Argentina and is one of 16 administrative units in the province.

It borders the Huiliches department to the north, the Collón Curá department and the Río Negro province to the east, the Los Lagos department to the south and Chile to the west .

The capital of the Lácar department is San Martín de Los Andes .
