The General Roca Department is located in the Alto Valle del Río Negro , in the north of the Río Negro Province in southern Argentina and is one of 13 administrative units in the province.
It borders the province of La Pampa to the north, the Avellaneda department to the east, the El Cuy department to the south and the Neuquén province to the west .
