The Department of San Ignacio is an administrative unit of the province of Misiones and is located in northeast Argentina .
It borders Paraguay to the north, the Libertador General San Martín and Cainguás departments to the east, the Oberá department to the south and the Candelaria department to the southwest .
The capital of the department of San Ignacio is the eponymous San Ignacio .
