The Oberá department is located in the south of the Misiones province in northeast Argentina and is one of 17 administrative units in the province.
It is bordered to the north by the Department of San Ignacio , to the east by the departments of Cainguás and Veinticinco de Mayo , to the south by the Department of San Javier and Brazil and to the west by the departments of Leandro N. Alem and Candelaria .
The capital of the Oberá department is the Oberá of the same name .
