The Santa Lucía Department is located in the center of the San Juan Province in western Argentina and is one of 19 administrative units in the province. It belongs to the metropolitan area of the provincial capital San Juan .
It is bordered to the north by the department of Chimbas , to the east by the department of San Martín , to the south by the departments of Rawson and Nueve de Julio and to the west by the department of Capital .
