The Zonda Department is located in the southern center of the San Juan Province in western Argentina . It is one of 19 administrative units in the province.

It borders the Department of Ullum to the north, the departments of Rivadavia and Pocito to the east, the Department of Sarmiento to the south and the Department of Calingasta to the west .

The capital of the Zonda department is Villa Basilio Nievas .
