For the 1993/94 season , the Sabers transferred him to the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he received his first appearances in the National Hockey League. However, he continued to play - even after his move to the Los Angeles Kings - mainly in the minor leagues.

In 1997, Snell decided to move to Germany to the Frankfurt Lions in the top German division, the German Ice Hockey League . Already in his first DEL season he convinced with his excellent offensive qualities and became one of the top performers of the Lions. He played for Frankfurt for five years, interrupted by a year at league competitor Hannover Scorpions . The greatest success was reaching the semi-finals in the 1998/99 season. In the preliminary round, he had set a new goal record for defenders in the DEL with 22 hits, which was only set by Jame Pollock in 2007 . In addition, Snell was the first goalscorer in the Lanxess Arena, which opened in 1998 . He left the Lions in 2003 and ended his active career shortly thereafter.
