The department of San Martín is located in the center of the province of San Juan in western Argentina and is one of 19 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered by the Angaco department to the north, the Caucete department to the east and south and the Santa Lucía department to the west .

The capital of the Department of San Martín is San Isidro .
