The Departamento Caucete is located in the southeast of the province of San Juan in western Argentina and is one of 19 administrative units in the province.
It borders the Jáchal and Valle Fértil departments to the north, the La Rioja province to the east, the San Luis and Veinticinco de Mayo departments to the south, and the Nueve de Julio and San Martín departments to the west .
