The depot of Kläden (also hoard find of Kläden ) is a possible depot find of the early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Kläden , a district of Bismark (Altmark) in the district of Stendal ( Saxony-Anhalt ). It dates between 1750 and 1650 BC. BC Possibly it was also grave goods .

Find history

The depot was discovered in the autumn of 1843 by a farmer while working in the fields, allegedly removing a burial mound . The majority of the finds first came to the private collection of Canon von Lewetzow in Kläden. Today, the greater part of the collection is owned by the Johann Friedrich Danneil Museum in Salzwedel , two pieces belong to the Museum of Prehistory and Early History in Berlin .

composition

Of the objects originally found, only “most of them” ended up in the Lewetzow's collection, which implies that some (possibly inconspicuous or not well preserved) pieces have not been saved. All documented objects are made of bronze . There are eight marginal ridge axes and the fragment of another, two spoon axes , a buckling wall chisel , the fragment of a diamond-headed needle and a spearhead . The spearhead has not been preserved, two edge ridge axes are in Berlin, the remaining pieces in Salzwedel.

A material analysis by Knut Rassmann showed that different types of bronze had been used for the individual pieces. While some pieces contained a typical tin content of up to 10 percent, other pieces had a significantly lower tin content.
