War of the Campers (working title: Die toten Campingplatz ) is a German television film by Wolfgang F. Henschel from 2007 based on a script by Andreas Föhr and Thomas Letocha . It is the 63rd episode of the crime series Der Bulle von Tölz with Ottfried Fischer as the main actor in the role of Chief Inspector Benno Berghammer. It was first broadcast on March 27, 2007 on ORF 1 .

action

The campsite owner Karl Prengel takes a fatal dose of E 605 and writes a suicide note with a murder confession. But before he can put the name of his victim on paper, he dies. Foreign blood is found on his corpse, probably that of the murder victim.

The commissioners Benno Berghammer and Nadine Richter learn that Karl Prengel has been waging a bitter neighborhood war with the owner of the adjacent campsite, Uwe Mautner, for years. Mautner has been missing since the night Prengel committed suicide, and there are traces of a car accident near the campsites. Prengels groundskeeper Manfred Göpping gets entangled in contradictions, which is why Berghammer and Richter are watching him. They follow him to a hut where he has Uwe Mautner locked up and supplied with food. Mautner is taken to hospital with broken bones and internal injuries. Göpping states that he wanted to keep Prengel from prison, so he had to take Mautner away; But he didn't run over it.

The lawyer Tatjana Rankowitz has also disappeared, with whom the deceased also had an argument about the fact that she and her cousin Manfred Göpping jointly own a castle. Prengel tried in vain to persuade Ms. Rankowitz to sell the castle. Since the lawyer’s cell phone was last logged into the area around the campsite, she could be the wanted murder victim, but her husband is convinced that she is still alive.

Finally, there is evidence of a camping guest from Dortmund , Heinz Klöngsen, who should have arrived the evening before Prengel's suicide, but apparently never arrived. Forensics found new camping equipment in the camping site's dumpster that could belong to Klöngsen. Resi Berghammer also observed how camping guest Gregor Bauer confessed to Prelate Hinter and then handed him a plastic bag. As it turns out, it contained a gold chain and a gold watch that belonged to Heinz Klöngsen. With the help of a sketch that Gregor Bauer left in a hiding place for the prelate, Klöngsen's body is found in the moor. The blood that adhered to Karl Prengel's body comes from her.

Berghammer and Richter find out that a fender was repaired on a certain Helga Gascher's car. She admits to having a relationship with Uwe Mautner, but she lent the vehicle to Karl Prengel's son Pit, who works for her, for a few days. The commissioners have a search for him and soon afterwards receive the message that his motorcycle is in front of the hospital.

Pit Prengel admits to Uwe Mautner at bedside that he has had a secret relationship with his stepdaughter Nina for two years and suggests settling the dispute between their families, especially since as a son he cannot help it. But when Mautner is relentless, Pit starts working on the life support system. The commissioners arrive just in time and arrest him for attempted murder. He says he didn't know of any other way out for their love. At the death of Heinz Klöngsen, the commissioners found out that he wanted to go to the police because he overheard Uwe Mautner being hit by Pit. Karl Prengel didn't want his son to go to jail for Uwe Mautner and killed Klöngsen in an argument. When policeman Schmidt wants to take Pit Prengel away, Nina Mautner runs up and claims that she hit her stepfather, but Pit contradicts her. So the confession goes back and forth.

In the meantime, the riddle surrounding the missing lawyer Tatjana Rankowitz has also been solved: Her husband has discovered that his wife ran off with the cook and ransacked all the accounts.
