Background and broadcast times

After the broadcaster RTL II decided to end the sixth German season of Big Brother on February 26, 2006, Premiere and Endemol decided to jointly market their own season of the format under a different name. It was tried to orientate itself strongly on the early seasons of Big Brother. The broadcast began after the finale of the sixth German Big Brother season on February 26th and ended prematurely on June 5th, 2006 (the end was originally planned for July 31st).

Just like the fifth and sixth seasons of Big Brother, The Container Exklusiv was also broadcast live 24 hours on its own pay TV channel. From April 4, 2006, the channel was activated for all Premiere customers during the so-called happy hour from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Furthermore, the daily highlights from the container could be seen on the television channel Premiere Start every day at 8:00 p.m. and the weekly highlights (with weekly nominations or an extract) on Mondays at 8:15 p.m. The shows were moderated by Christian Möllmann .

Premises

The venue for Der Container Exklusiv was the Big Brother Village in Cologne-Ossendorf . The sixth season of the German Big Brothers was also produced there. After its end, Premiere first broadcast recordings from the casting for Der Container Exklusiv . On February 27, 2006 from 1:00 a.m., the first six residents moved into house number 7 - the former assistant's area. In the following weeks the number of residents was increased to ten and on March 10th the move into the actual "container" took place: This extended over house number 9 - the former executive area - including the garden with swimming pool, the former big bar and the Fitness area. The Big Bar has been converted into a bedroom and the former bedroom of the Big Brother residents has been converted into a dining room. The fitness area was used as a studio for the final broadcast on June 5th.

Surveillance of the residents

As is known from the Big Brother format , the residents of Der Container Exklusiv were monitored around the clock by video cameras and microphones . However, no images were transmitted from the bedroom during the hour without cameras from 7:00 am to 8:00 am.

Number of residents, nominations, prize money

Usually ten residents lived together in the container. After moving out, which could be done voluntarily or by eviction, a new resident moved up. Every two weeks the residents nominated two (in the event of a tie, possibly more than two) candidates for expulsion. Since the second nomination, the viewers also had a vote via televoting . In the week following the nomination, the audience decided again by telephone which of the nominees should stay in the container. The candidate with the fewest audience votes was then kicked out. Towards the end of the season, the number of residents gradually decreased until there was ultimately one winner - the candidate Sergei. This received a bonus of 100,000 euros. Before the announcement of an early end of the season, Endemol and Premiere had promised the winner a sum of 150,000 euros. At the same time as the announcement of the premature end of the program, the prize money was cut by a third without further comments.

Budget and weekly tasks

The budget available to the residents to buy groceries and other goods was seven euros per resident per day. They had to use a share of 20–50 % of this basic budget for weekly tasks in which they e.g. B. had to prove their skill, athletic performance or ability to learn. If the weekly task was passed, the stake was added to the basic budget; if the weekly task was not passed, it was deducted from it.
