The boy from back then is the fifth solo album by German rapper Kay One . It was released on September 2, 2016 as a standard and deluxe edition, including a bonus EP, instrumentals , DVD , t-shirt and poster.

The boy from back then entered the German charts at number 3 on September 9, 2016 and stayed in the top 100 for four weeks.
On July 29, 2016, a split video for the songs Lookalikes and Mile High Club was released, which were released as singles for download at the same time . The third release for the title song The Boy from Back then was released on August 19 and on August 23, 2016 a music video for the track The oil turned to blood followed . The fourth single Believe was released on August 26, 2016 and a video for Immortal was released on February 26, 2017 .
