The master thief and his treasures is a French , comedic heist movie directed by Pascal Bourdiaux from 2017. It is about the aging master thief Patrick, who reconciles with his grown daughters and wants to carry out one last coup with them.

action

The aging master thief Patrick steals a famous violinist's valuable Stradivarius violin while a famous violinist is performing in the Kurhaus in San Sebastián . For this he has tied the violinist in the changing room and is himself on stage wearing the violinist's mask when his accomplice Romain switches off the power and Patrick uses the darkness to escape. Romain betrays Patrick, however - he stuns him, takes the violin and sinks the escape vehicle with Patrick in the sea.

Caroline is a trick thief and on the run from the Interpol agent Guillaume. Carole is a talented computer scientist who still lives with her mother and receives constant calls from her. Neither Caroline nor Carole knows that they are half-sisters and Patrick's daughters, whose mothers he left shortly before giving birth. They only find out when the administrator of their father's estate invites them to open a will. He refers to a chalet in the Courchevel winter sports area where Patrick's estate is said to be. When the dissimilar sisters arrive there, they are greeted to their astonishment by Patrick, who tells them that he wants to carry out one last coup with their help before his retirement: He wants Romain, who wants to sell the valuable violin, the sales price of 15 million euros lynch off and share with his daughters. At first both are angry that he was not there for them, but then both agree, especially since Caroline is visited again by Guillaume, who is on Patrick's heels and wants to catch him in the act through Caroline. If she refuses, she would be extradited to the Italian police, on whose wanted list she is.

Using various disguises and technical aids, they try to get to Romain, who wants to sell the violin to his mother, Julianna, at the birthday party of billionaire son Tobias Van Gaal. This turns out to be difficult because they are often at odds and Fred also shows up, Carole's work colleague and admirer. The computer nerd helps Carole with the preparations, but his jealousy brings her into an embarrassing situation with Romain, whom they have to put out of action with knockout drops so that he does not become suspicious.

Caroline, who has come closer to Guillaume in the meantime, finds out that he is not from Interpol, but was hired by Patrick to secure her help. She tells her sister about it and they both decide to give their father a lesson. After Romain sold the violin to billionaire Julianna and had her transfer the 15 million to his account, Carole hacked into Romain's bank and transferred the money to her own account. Romain tracks them down and pursues them, but together with Patrick they can get rid of him after a short scuffle. When Caroline and Carol confess to their father that they saw through him and transferred the millions to their own account, he is proud of their talent and reveals that the money was intended for both of them anyway. Father and daughters reconcile and finally stand together with Guillaume and Fred, all five of them disguised, in a museum in front of Claude Monet's painting “Drifting Ice”, and Patrick thinks it could very well fit over their fireplace.
