The son of Asterix (French original title: Le Fils d'Astérix ) is the 27th Asterix volume and was published in 1983 in both French and German. The album was written and drawn by Albert Uderzo .

action

Since Brutus , the adopted son and secretly an enemy of Gaius Iulius Caesar , tries to kill his son Caesar junior (in later albums Caesarion) in order to get his inheritance, his mother Cleopatra lets him in the invincible, Gaulish village of Asterix and Obelix so that your son is safe there.

One morning Asterix finds Caesar junior on his doorstep. When trying to breastfeed him, he accidentally drinks the magic potion and therefore causes unrest in the village. Asterix and Obelix find out through Caesar Juniors clothing that he must come from a noble family, and therefore ask in the surrounding Roman camps whether someone misses their child. The Romans know nothing, however.

Meanwhile, Brutus appears in Condate and learns that Caesar junior is in the Gallic village. So he gives the order to kidnap the baby. This goes wrong several times as the potion is still working on the baby. So Brutus orders the village to be torched. While the men from the village fight the Romans, the women go to the beach with the children. But Brutus also appears there and grabs the child. Caesar junior tries to defend himself but cannot do anything because the potion has stopped working. Brutus flees to the sea with the little one.

The next day the battle ended and the men learned of the kidnapping. Asterix and Obelix pursue Brutus and the child. They return with him and the kidnapper when Caesar appears. He wants to know from Brutus what is going on when Cleopatra arrives at the same moment and informs him. Caesar swears that his troops will rebuild the burned down village and Cleopatra makes her galley available for the final feast at which Caesar is part of the party.

Remarks

A reference to the 1963 Hollywood film Cleopatra, starring Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra. Here Cleopatra uses a similar means of transport, the throne on a pharaoh's pedestal.

In some editions, Caesar junior is incorrectly referred to as Ptolemy XVI. designated.

References within the series

It is the first and so far only time that the Romans have managed to destroy the village.

The banquet , which usually takes place in the evening, is held here for the first time during the day after Asterix as a gladiator and Asterix and Cleopatra . The presence of Julius Caesar and his family is particularly unusual.
