Gaul in danger (French original title: Le ciel lui tombe sur la tête ; German: The sky falls on his head ) is the 33rd volume in the Asterix series from 2005. It was written by Albert Uderzo , who wrote the volume wrote in homage to Walt Disney . The story is controversial among fans of the Asterix series because it has little in common with previous volumes and extraterrestrials show up.

During one of their hunting walks through the nearby forest , Asterix and Obelix notice that all life seems frozen; even her own village was struck by the sudden phenomenon.

A short time later, a UFO lands on earth, from which a purple alien named Tuun gets out. He initially talks informally with Asterix, Obelix and the druid, until he finally remembers that he had forgotten to switch off the anti-collision magnetic field, which paralyzes the population. He asks Asterix and Obelix for support in the fight against the Nagmas, another alien force. A nagma actually lands on earth and also demands support. The two alien groups are after the Gauls' magic potion.

The two foreign powers get into an argument and deliver a mass brawl, in which Asterix and Obelix are also involved. Miraculix decides to give both groups a potion. However, it turns out that the potion has a different effect than it does on humans. After the druid has been kidnapped by the Nagma, who, however, releases him again and leaves, the effect on the aliens becomes noticeable: They become very large. The Nagma who it happened in space cannot be helped, but Miraculix manages to bring Tuun back to its normal size.

In the end, the Gaulish inhabitants of the village of Tuun are “treated” in such a way that they forget the incident about the foreign visit. Then he makes his way back to his home planet.

Remarks

The image of the shadow that creeps over the village corresponds to a scene from Independence Day . The name Tadsylweni of the home planet of Tuun is an anagram for Walt Disney . Also worth mentioning in the German edition is the northern German expression “Was klönt der da” by Obelix, which actually means “to chat”. He is referring to the alien super clone , which looks like a cross between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Superman . The Nagma Rocket (An Anagram of Manga ) comes from the Japanese comic series Goldorak . Troubadix starts the song If I Had a Hammer by Pete Seeger in a picture , whereupon he is thrown with a hammer.

The first edition of the album Le Ciel lui tombe sur la tête was published in 2005 by Albert René as volume 33 of the series. The German first edition of the book took place in 2005 by Ehapa-Verlag . With a worldwide initial circulation of 8 million, this album was released simultaneously across Europe.
