The Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co., Ltd. ( Chinese:安徽 江淮 汽车 股份有限公司; Pinyin : Ānhuī Jiānghuái qìchē gǔfèn yǒuxiàn gōngsī ), abbreviated to JAC , is a manufacturer of passenger cars and commercial vehicles based in Hefei , Anhui Province , People's Republic of China . Founded in 1964 under the name Hefei Jianghuai Automobile Factory , it has existed under its current name since 1999.

Vehicle production

Cars from small cars to the upper middle class , SUVs , delivery vans , minibuses , buses and trucks are built , primarily for the Chinese domestic market, but also for export to Brazil and other countries. There are research and development departments in Hefei, China, since 2005 in Turin in Italy and since 2006 in Tokyo in Japan.

In 2009 the company produced 336,979 passenger cars.

On September 10, 2010, the company announced a joint venture with the US commercial vehicle manufacturer Navistar International .
