Chengdu Auto Works was a manufacturer of automobiles from the People's Republic of China .

Company history

The Chengdu company started producing commercial vehicles in 1980 . The brand name was Chengdu . In 1994 the company acquired manufacturing facilities from British Leyland Motor Corporation . From 1998 onwards, passenger cars were also produced , which were marketed as Huandu . Production ended in 1999 when China FAW Group took over the company.

Small commercial vehicles like the CZ 120 were marketed as Chengdu . One source cites two tons of payload .

As Huandu , a vehicle was created that corresponded to the Morris Ital . The CAC 6430 was a station wagon . There were also the versions CAC 1020 as a pick-up , CAC 5020 as a panel van and CAC 5026 as a panel van with two additional side windows.

The only known production number of 148 relates to the 1998 CHC 6430 .
