The company was founded on March 13, 2003 in Jinhua and is part of the Kandi Technology Group . In 2005 the production of automobiles began. The brand name is Kandi . On March 22, 2013, met with Shanghai Maple establishing of Zhejiang Kandi Electric Vehicles Co. Ltd.

The company sold 1,215 electric cars in the first quarter of 2014 and increased sales to 4114 vehicles in the second quarter of 2014.
